Subject: James Len Darnell From: Mary Lynn Darnell (Smith)

My father, James Len Darnell, served in the Navy in WWII and was discharged at the rank of PHM2. I have a photo of him in his navy blues and also in an olive suit (which I am told that this means he was attached to a Marine unit).

There is a James L Darnell listed on ancestry.com files as follows:

WWII U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Muster Rolls, 1939-1949
about James L Darnell
Name: James L Darnell
Ship Name: Belleau Wood
Ship number: CV-24
Sail Date: 1 Nov 1943
Roll: MIUSA2006_082831

I am wondering if this is a ship that my father served on and am hoping that someone remembers him.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Mary Lynn Darnell Smith
