I am trying to located anyone who may have known my Grandfather, Lieutenant Commander, Robert H. Lindner, USNR, USS Belleau Wood, Commanding Officer of the Second edition of Air Group 30. On February 23, 1945 he was forced to make a water landing 10 miles south of the island of Chichi Jima. He was last seen in a life raft wearing a life jacket with a dye marker out, but was never recovered. He was reported MIA on February 23, 1945. It would be great to hear from someone.
