I apologize for not knowing anything about the individual you are looking for.
I am attempting to determine the eligibility of an individual who served on the Belleau Wood during the Jun 82 to Jun 88 timeframe. He had two and a half years sea duty but I'm not certain of the exact dates. He states that he was in support of the hostile activities off Lebanon and I cannot determine that fact from his DD-214.(The Navy makes it extremely difficult by their lack of detail on DD-214's for security reasons)
If anyone could vouch for the location of this ship during above timeframe it will help this Sailor gain membership to the VFW.

I cant speak for previous dates LHA-3 was in dry dock in Bremerton WA early 1985 then servin in westpac through 1988. At no time during this period was there any action warranting membership to VFW. Sorry. Maybe focus your search to prior to 1985.
