Does anyone remember my grandfather, Lieutenant Commander Robert H Lindner, Commanding Officer of the second addition of Air Group 30. Due to enemy fire he had to make a forced water landing 10 miles south of the island of Chichi Jima. He was last seen in a life raft and after several days of rescue attempts, only his life raft was recovered. He was reported missing in action on February 23, 1945.
