When my grandmother died in December of 2007 she left us with a clue to a HUGE mystery. A postcard she had carried in her purse for over 50 years signed Mrs. Curtis Jefferson Greer. She had sent the postcard to her parents when she arrived in Oregon to give birth to my Dad. My Dad was adopted by the grandfather I knew and never even knew his true birth name. I am trying to find out if anyone remembers him and possibly anything about him. I located his older brother and he could not remember much. He did tell me that the ship received 9 bronze battle stars while Curtis was on it.He remembered it was in the pacific islands and men were killed because they were sealed in a compartment. Does this sound familiar? I have been all over the internet and today I found a Muster Roll that had his name on it. It said he was on the Belleau Wood CVL_24 on 1 Oct 1945, 29 Oct 1945 and 1 Dec 1945. Can you at least tell me where the ship was around those dates. I would be greatful for any information. Thank You, Marquel S. Knapp
